About GifEraser
Last updated · Written and tested by The GifEraser team, who build and maintain this tool.
GifEraser is a small team of developers who make GIFs, stickers and stream overlays ourselves. We kept hitting the same wall: free GIF tools only removed one flat color, and the AI tools wanted a signup, a full video editor and a subscription just to cut out one reaction GIF.
So we built a single-purpose tool that does one job well:
- AI on every frame, plus a precise color key for flat backgrounds.
- Private by design: the free tools run in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
- No watermark, free for commercial use, with an optional Pro plan for full resolution, long GIFs and pro formats.
How we test
We test every release against a set of real-world GIFs: flat-color logos, pixel art, green-screen clips, reaction GIFs with people and pets, and screen recordings. We check edge quality on light and dark backgrounds, frame timing and file size. The AI models we use, BiRefNet-lite (MIT) and MODNet (Apache-2.0), are open-source and licensed for commercial use.
